The Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA) recently hosted a farewell and end-of-year party to honor its staff members who are retiring, as well as celebrate the achievements of the current team.
The event was marked by heartfelt remarks from the Director General, Mr. George Chiusiwa, who commended the retirees for their tireless work towards the growth of MACODA. "We appreciate the dedication and hard work of our retirees, who have contributed significantly to the growth and success of MACODA," he said.
Among the retirees were Mr. Francis Mikate, who served as a dedicated driver, Mrs. Jessie Kaliyati, who worked tirelessly at the Registry, and Mr. Mpunga, who provided invaluable expertise as a Senior Rehabilitation Officer, among others.
Mrs. Marylyn Sabuni, Senior Human Resource Officer, appealed to the retirees to continue supporting the council, emphasizing that their expertise will still be valuable to other employees within the council. "Your experience and knowledge are still needed, and we hope you will continue to support us even in retirement," she said.
Representing the retirees, Mr. Francis Mikate expressed gratitude to the Council for the gesture and encouraged his fellow retirees to still consider MACODA as their home and not forget it. "We are grateful for the opportunity to serve MACODA, and we will always cherish the memories and experiences we have had here," he said.
The farewell and end-of-year party served as a fitting tribute to the retirees, acknowledging their years of dedicated service to MACODA.
